Meet Divya
Divya Puri Kaishap, M.S. CCC-SLP, TSSLD
Divya is an Edgemont-based, New York State certified speech-language pathologist, a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), and holds a license in Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She graduated with honors from the University of Texas, Austin with a double Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Early Childhood Development. She also received her Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education from New York University, and a Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Columbia University.
Divya’s collective work experience with children over the past 17 years has taught her one important lesson: progress is only made once a connection is made. She believes in the importance of collaborating with the family. She also believes in a ‘holistic’ approach; the child is viewed as part of a larger picture, belonging to a family and community where he/she interacts with adults, peers, siblings and community members.
Divya is trained in PROMPT, Orofacial Myology, and offers a Thumbsucking cessation program. The following are the range of diagnoses she has experience with:
- Articulation disorders
- Apraxia
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Delayed talkers
- Expressive and receptive language disorders
- Feeding disorders & delays, / Extreme picky eating
- Orofacial myofunctional disorders including tongue thrusting, lisping, drooling
Divya resides in lower Westchester, with her husband and two daughters, ages 7 & 10. She enjoys finding ways to be fit, including running outdoors, swimming and squeezing in yoga and soul cycle classes, time permitting! At the behest of her husband and daughters, she has recently been contemplating what life would be like with a third addition…a dog !
